In a few hours, the hotel I work at will be using a windows based program for our daily operations. We’ve been using this Dos program up until now. ( who even knows what that means anymore!?) So for the past 5 years, 3 months, and 20 days I’ve been using this program, and it’s over. I’ve had nightmares of typing the key strokes over and over for checking someone in after a particularly busy day. I could check you in and out without ever looking at the computer or keyboard. Ok so it’s not the end of an era, but it’s a big deal to me! Maybe I’m a huge dork, but I want to keep my crappy old system! But I will have to accept that the new one will be better for all of us. And of course many people in the past and now have gone through this, but I gotta tell you I don’t like it. :)

I also don’t like that the crazy girls didn’t win amazing race :/ my choice teams always come in 2nd… Like the cowboys last season!! Ugghhh they were the best! Though the watermelon in the face was pretty damn good LOL

haven’t been on here in a while-pretty much since school ended! I’ve been working like crazy, and lately I’ve been working my brain like crazy to figure out how I can start my own business… but I need a liquor license and customers with money. :) or maybe we can start a bakery/artist venue. :) i DO love cupcakes and other people’s art!

Seriously though, I need to take some web design classes or learn it or something… my skills are so basic I’m not even sure if I can count them as skills. I’m thinking that’s what I want to do… web stuff, even just freelance, or go after small businesses who need a web presence for starters, then making apps and stuff??? Who knows where it might lead?!

i remember when i first heard this song and thought it was amazing. I was in an auditorium at olivet nazarene university watching a video-footage presentation on study abroad trips. Though i didn’t end up every doing a study abroad trip, i’ve had many travels anyway. Joe & I are going to do Hong Kong or Japan next!!! :D

i dont care anymore if i suck at designing. lately i’ve been really upset with my work at school and pissed b/c i feel like idk what i’m doing and maybe i went back to school with the wrong major, or i’ve wasted time, etc etc etc.

Just because i’m graduating doesnt mean i have to be super at it all. i can still learn after i’m done with school. and even if i dont become the best, i am good at enough other things that we will find a way to pay our bills and do what we want and move to japan, or paris, or australia, or canada, or wherever!

and i’m learning web design now and i think i’ll be better at that than what i’m being asked to do now in most of my classes.

so, i’m over it. i’ll put up my shitty thumbnails, or roughs, but i will do my best to remember this and not be so upset when it looks like a 3 year old’s work next to all the other work

i can do this. i just have 2 months left. then i can do whatever i want. i wont be stuck spending shitty 19 hours a week at school on top of working all the rest of the time! i can explore whatever i want in terms of designing work. i can intern for real, i can do side work for people, whatev!

maybe now i’ll make some cupcakes for class tomorrow. and maybe work. MAYBE

so i dont aspire to work at a large agency, so what? it doesnt mean i’m below anyone who does! i don’t like working for large corporations anyway. office politics can suck it if you ask me.

i’m making my own typeface. or a few of my own typefaces. Will post parts coming along over the next few months.

I work both jobs this Friday & Saturday. 5 hours at one, then 8 hours at the other. Both days. :/ I hope I can rent out some apartments & don’t F anything up!!!

I have about 2 hours to do 10 ads now that were assigned last Thursday. :( Still haven’t learned not to procrastinate! SHIT

Man, we are a fat ass city. Joe & I were waiting for the redline at 5:10, and we have to wait for a 2nd train b/c there’s no way anyone waiting on the platform is going to get on the train. I know it’s winter (so we’re all bundled up…, and it’s rush hour so of course it’s more jammed than normal, but there are service cuts coming in a couple weeks, and it’s only going to get worse. I’m usually all for public transit, but some things need to change.
First, the CTA could really stand to get rid of some of the seating in the trains or turn them so theyre only along the walls of the train car to free up some extra space.
Second, we are just plain fat. Before you start complaining about body images, blah blah blah, hear me out. and notice i said ‘we’ not ‘they/them’. Not a single person around me on the car we finally all packed outselves into was looking their best. And it wasn’t just the winter coats! Even without those coats… well, we’re just plain fat. so we need to walk a little more, bike, jog, bend over more often… maybe service cuts will force some people to do so. it may force me to walk the extra 6 blocks to the train instead of waiting for the bus at the end of my block. and since i’d be taking the blue line then, instead of the red, i’d have some extra walking to do at the other end since the blue puts me further from class. But, hell, I could sure use it. and when the weather gets better, i’ll do my best to bike whenever I can (except to work b/c i’ll now need a car for my new job). (hold me accountable, anyone?)

I do still love my cupcakes though! :) and Fox Fudge Freak Out ice cream. <3
